Which oil is tha best oil for a 14 year old 3S-GTE.
Synthetic of Mineral. Grade? Weight? Brand?
I've only owned the car for 7 k and changed the oil 1nce.
Took some advice and went with 20-50 mineral Penzoil.
I didn't argue too much cause it was the bees nuts when i rode a bike. But it doesn't perform at all as well as whatever was in there when i got the car.
The only mods are a relief valve and BOV so it a fairly standard setup.
need some advice from people who know.

All of the mr2 die hards in the US will talk your ear off on how great Mobil 1 (fully synthetic) is and how they can go for a lot longer before the oil breaks down.
A sythetic make a bunch more sense as well to me as they can get the cold and hot viscosities spot on and there's no chance of impurities.
Check out http://www.mr2oc.com/, there's a ton of information about the 3sgte's which would be relevant to you.
Not taking anything away from toymods, a lot of people here no their sh*t backwards and inside out. There's just a crap load more people in the US and hence a much large car enthusiast community.
Cheers,
Dave

I'm pushing out over 400 HP from my 3sgte and have had no problems with using ( BP Coarse Plus ) I pulled my motor down after 2 years of punishment of 30+ psi boost and the bearings looked as good as the day I put them in .

Yes ,well i registered there and they all had an opinion.
Any1 tried a few different grades and weights have an opinion. (it doesn't get much below 10 Degrees C here ever)

Don't bother with 30 weight oil around here... not on an aging engine anyway.
15W50 is what I've run ever since I got the car (2 years ago), only ever bothered with semi synthetic and have used Penrite HPR15 and this Gulf Western Protecta Ultra... both VERY good oils!
I personally think the penzoil stuff is pretty poor and I suspect the penzoil oils sold in australia is not the same as that which is sold in the USA.

i just did a oil change on my 3sgte gen2 and i put 10w-40 motul turbolight full synthetic in. car runs very smooth and revs much free-er. befor that the motor had 20w oil in it and it didn't run as well.
alot of people on celica.net strongly suggest around the 10w-30 full synthetic oils for the life of the engine.mobil 1 is way too thin..
Hope this helps
