Can a normal person change a rear axle bearing on a MA61 or do they need to be pressed on or off or something?

If you are talking about the inner and outer tapered bearings on the stub axle, it depends.

I took mine out (as part of the 5 stud conversion) and bought the bearings, but took it to a suspension shop (with a copy of the relevant pages of the TRSM) for them to reassemble it, as it is a bit involved. The arms were out of the car of course.

It is a similar setup to a Crumpledore IRS setup. They charged me $45/side to reassemble.

If need be, I have the bearing numbers here with me.

What is wrong with your bearings ? Pulling mine apart showed absolutely no wear whatsover, and the grease was clean as a whistle !!

Cheers

No idea what's wrong, I'm a celica guy

The car is a mates, tried to get a pink slip and the guy said left rear axel bearing/s among other things. I'm going up to see him this weekend and I'll have a look and see what's wrong.
