Hey All,
After installing the Diff, does the diff make a lot of noise ie whining?
Cheers.

If not installed properly, yes.

It may be that the crownwheel is not set up properly with the pinion.
Who did it ?
If it wasn't noisy before, I'd take it back and get them to check it out.
Any more details of who/what/where/why etc ?

I'm with Michael here. It should be quiet.
It maybe that the crown wheel and pinion were not setup correctly or there may be a suspect bearing.
When does the whining occur? On acceleration, deceleration or constant load? I'm assuming you put the correct oil in it?

What they said; my diff is whisper-quiet. If (for example) the pinion preload hasn't been set properly, it will make a hell of a racket - but that's nothing to do with the TrueTrac itself.

Well I have only driven 10,000kms since the last engine rebuild (in June), and I *think* I just did another Head gasket as the radiator is bubbling with air with the cap removed
Earlier in the year I when I got the panel work done to the car, I got the diff put in as my panel beater organised it for me So I'll call him when he gets home to get it fixed...
Would the whining damage the diff pinion or crownwheel at all?
Cheers...

On a similar note,
I have a 4 pinnion diff/carrier and a 2 pinnion diff/carrier, which carrier is better to use with the Torsen LSD I am putting in? Does it have any affect at all?
I currently have swapped my 4 pinnion carrier for a 2 pinnion one. This is so I can still drive my car, take the carrier and LSD centre to get put in, then swap the carrier on my car when I get home.

The 2-pinion/4-pinion part (ie the diff centre) gets replaced entirely by the TrueTrac centre, so it doesn't make any difference.

Is the Truetrac 2 or 4 pinion, of does that have no bearing in this matter?

Nup, helical LSD's don't have pinion gears.
