Are they any good? Looking for a car that handle well up da hill not really into stop-light drag racing so would prefer an NA over turbo/supercharged. Thinking about integra typeR but there are too many honda around so how would a corolla handle anyway?
Cheers

Hey mate,
What do you mean up in da hill? Do you mean in the winding roads in the mountain? Well i would prefer a honda integra type r. I think these cars are great, lightweight, has power, and is good looking. They have heaps of potential in power wise and in the handling department. These things are fast around the track in my own opinion. Im not sure where your from but there are heaps of hondas going around you just have to keep your eyes open. On the other hand toyota corolla sportivos not sure which one your talking about are good. Im not sure about the early turbo charged model but besides the old one i think the new one is average. Apparently they had some problems with power figures and that being the reason why the car is not for sale off the showroom floor anymore. Im sure some guys on this forum can shed some light on their own opinions about this car. But I like the corolla, its quick, nice looking and has four doors if you have family. Not sure about how the corolla handles though because I couldn't really push it too much in the test drive, however if ur looking at handling go with honda type r as there are heaps of aftermarket parts made by top tuners in comparison the corolla in my own opinion.
Just my 2 cents

yeah im more of a hill mountain person so a car with low weight and preferably na coz of the linear power delivery. Still trying to source a type R but they are still quite expensive at about $23k for a 70000km 2000 car whereas i could pick a 2003 corolla sportivo with 7000k up for the same price. So just want to know if a corrola can handle as well as the integra. Plus i hope insurance would be much nicer compared with da integra.

About the car not for sale anymore on the showroom..well i read somewhere in the forum about how toyota claim the 2zzge on the corolla not producing the 141kw as stated therefore they have to recall it and install a better tune ECU and air box to meet ADR noise rule or something like that. Not quite sure anyone care to add to this.

I dunno where you're from, but I think the Australian Corolla Sportivo only comes with a 1ZZ-GE, doesn't it?

There are 2 type the normal one which have the 1zz-fe and the sportivo with the 2zz-ge...i had a close look at one yesterday in person at CMI adelaide on West Tce and it does exist. It was a demo car but never had the chance to drive it.

Well like i said type r's are really nice winding road machines, however if you can get a corolla sportivo for that much go for it. Anything can be made to handle and im sure the sportivo can handle just as well as a type r or not even better if you spend some money onto it. I think the corolla is a bit more heavier than the integra type r but you can do some mods to reduce weight of course.
HOpe it helped

Corolla sportico is not for hill climbing, bad match of gear ratios cause it to fall off the VVTi cams and thus ther is a massive drop in power. Also the corolla is atall vehicle with a high ride height and centre of gravity not the thing for fast cornering.
Either get the type r or Celica with the same motor and better than weight distribution than rolla.

if you want hill climbing why not try the new suzuki ignis sport apparently a few mates of mine who drive high powered skylines and supras rate these cars well. In my opinion they are a bit high but they are coming first the Junior world rally championships just a thought.

They are shit, motor tetsted them recently and they had no shock contorl at all. They only have a 1.5 with 83kw he wants power that will not climb a hill, torque I say Torque. If anything go the renault Clio Sport. 2.0 124kw 200nm torque 1035kg, sweet front wheel drive chassis.

Well i love my aw11 very quick car but unfortunately i wrote it of and time to consider a newer more recent car thats all.
as for the clio sport i wouldnt mind that car at all for the handling but they look pretty damn ugly to me and i hate those steering wheel they got in there.
Anyone ever driven a satria GTI they are going for pretty cheap.
