I looked at doing this unfortunately it isnt worth it for the 86.

In japan they are so coveted so you will be paying an absolute premium. Ive seen stockish 86's in japan go for aroud $25K (Not a misprint)

Your best bet is to buy an aussie one and do a conversion.

If you do have the money to import one goto

http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/

They wont mention 86's but you can request them but as i stated before be prepared to pay BIG money.. ive seen at auction them go for more than R32 GTR's!!!

If you ever get to go to Japan and see the phenomenol following these cars have..

Ive seen IRS kits new modern dashboards six speed gearboxes and all manner of bits for these cars. Unfortunately there for the realm of the rich.

With Japanese Licencing costs linked to the age of the vehicle anyone who owns one of these cars ays a premium just to keep them.

Whilst I believe the cult following of these vehicles has increased the price of these a little higher than there intrinsic value.

The very fact that they are still being used and activly raced and developed in a country that makes it hard to own an older vehicle is a testment to there overall excelent design and engineering qualities...

there are a few lurkers on this forum who have imported JDM 4age ae86's for as low as 7k, landed, rego'd, compiled everything

i havn't had the plesure of seeing one of these in person, but i feel jealous about it, and unless someone like ae86drift says to me... 'those ae86's will be shit' i'll feel a little better

It is a nice trueno yes...

You might spend $25 - $30 thousand on it but i am saying I wouldnt thats all... Rolling Eyes

However If i had hundreds of millions of dollars and a multitude of cars then i probably would, but to spend that sort of money on a car of that age in my current financial situation would be just plain stupid

the blue/purple one is nice...

When i said the words friggen joke and idiots it was in the heat of the moment becuase $25,000 for a sprinter is rediculous, I am still gonna think that and I always will, simple as that, I reckon one day I will own one and my opinion will not change...

You can deny it all you like but Initial D has made the price of these cars go nuts, for gods sake it has done it over here to some degree why wouldnt it do it where the cartoon originated from...

I have seen Initial D, I like initial D but that doesnt mean I will pay $25000 for a car so I can drive a car like Takumi...

You can take what I said to heart all you want, I dont really give a shit personally...build a bridge and get over the fact that not everyone idolises sprinters...

Seriously tho, one more thing, heaps of people have told me that old school soarers are crap and slow and the 1GGTE is crap and they say oh why did you spend six grand on that, etc, etc, do you think I took it to heart and told every single one of them to get fucked?

your opinion is fine. Smile chill. just dont be so quick to judge.

yes initial d has increased prices. increased demand for a dwindling base of nice cars will do that. but the ae86's price in japan has been high since the late 80's

i havent taken anything to heart, you just ahve to learn to not shoot your mouth off. im also quite aware not everyone like the ae86, i am a member of toymods forums am i not? Rolling Eyes

tell people to get fucked? yes you should. its what you love and put lots fo work into so fuck them if they think otherwise. Wink

Josh, this isn't the car we're talking about is it?

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/sunburnt.jpg

I doubt you'd have met my mate Matt in Japan however if not, then I can say that your story's not uncommon either.

My mate picked up this silver coupe in Japan for $2k AUD ... having fun driving it around Nihon at the moment and she's straight as and a real beau.

Hopefully he'll bring it back to Australia when he eventually returns. Smile
