why dont i have a rev limiter? I have no tachi in the hachi that works with the ca18det so i have no idea what its reving to. When i rev it out it keeps on reving, and reving.... and reving!!! then it cuts out like a fuel or speed cut. and just dies, then cuts back in.
nothing at all like a 4age limiter where it just bangs off it.
why?!!?!! i need a limiter that acctually works properly!

im pretty sure the ca18det rev limiter is much slower than the 4age limiter
ie. doesnt go barp barp barp barp
was like that on my mates 180 anyway

YARRR!!!
yes the CA18DET rev limiter is a slow piece of shite, i have seen scabby sea shanties move with faster that the CA18 rev limiter works.
Nothing wrong, it's just a crappy nissan motor.

yeah its limiting the revs alright, but it seems to come in aweful late (engine sounds like its screaming to 9K rpm, so i dont try and hit the limiter in every gear) and its aweful slow unlike a 4age limiter.
If im drifting in a gear and hit the limiter, i loose all power, not like a 4age limiter where you can keep going.

i have noticed over the years with nissans a funny thing with their rev limiters, nissans limiter would be what i would describe as a hard cut. when hit, the engine turns to poo for up to even 2 seconds before it regains it composure. This is a pretty long time when your doing things and want them to happen straight away.
toyotas limiters are much softer i would have to say, engines regain their composure much quicker.
interestingly the nissan engine may be taking the safer option when it comes to rev limiter for longevity of engine
who knows
anyways hope this helps.

i know i shouldn't..but i love my limiter in my ZE sliding from side to side..ahh....music...of the limiters that i have hit..the most violent would have to be the CA jsut like you all said..it feels like it dies in the arse then wakes up..the fastest..(softest) that i have felt is in my mums 2003 SP20 mada astina..the tacho doesn't even bounce! it doesn't go brap..brap..brap.. like a 4AG, just kinda humms along..gong bbdddddddrrrrrrrrr and there is no joulting..
i like the 4AG the best though..
