Help, Completely f**ked 4K Sun, 19 September 2004 11:54 Go to next message
i held a minute burnout at 6grand the other night and did some damage, not knowing what i did i drove home and took it out the next day, got down the street and noticed something was wrong o i finally took of the rocker cover and in the first cylinder or No.1 the exhuast vavle is about an inch lower than all the others, on closer examination the cylinder behind No.1, No.3??, had the intake valve about an inch lower than the standard height, i have a 3K head but i want to get it machined and ready before i put it on, and i want to know if it had been warped, the reason why i dont wanna put the 3K head on is cause i wanna build the engine up right, its currnetly a completely stock 4K-C at the moment, what could the issue be here with the 2 valves at the height they are, could they have seized up or what? im going to take the rocker arms off tomorrow and see if they will come up otherwise would you say there bent? could i ahve done cam damage, bottom end damage if my 2 vavles appear the way they do, also at the moment im a little broke so would i be able to use the original head gasket or get another? any help would be great

(a) Learn about full stops and paragraphs. People will actually be able to *gasp* read your entire post if you do this.

(b) 4K motors are cheap. Buy another one. It'll probably be cheaper than fixing the mess you're in now.

(c) Measure the 3K head warpedness yourself; all you need is a good straight edge and some feeler gauges. Flip the head upside down. All of these measurements should be made on the bottom face of it:

* along the head on both sides
* across the head at both ends
* diagonally across it both ways.

The clearance should be no more than 0.02 - 0.05mm or so in any direction.

Then do the same on the side of the head, where the manifolds bolt up, but with a clearance limit of no more than 0.1mm.

(d) Don't do antisocial bogan wanker shit, like burnouts, and then cry on forums about how you broke your car.
