I'm getting a '87 Twin Cam, as i am mechanically challenged i don't know much at all about cars/mods.

What is the first thing/s i can/should do...

If any-one has any suggestions it would be GREAT.

Thank y-all.

the MOST basic would be to get a performance air filter, then depending on your budget extractors, exhaust. Im assuming its a 4age Confused you/someone can do a conversion to a 4agze(supercharged) or 4agte(turbo-charged).

But it all depends on your budget Very Happy

Yes i agree with this. the only other thing i could think of that's cheap and easy (sticking with the stock engine), would be to advance the timing too. Smile

Change the oil to full synthetic
Check spark plugs are platinum/iridium
**Get it tuned**

Spark plugs are not a performance upgrade. Oil type is dubious as well. Tuning is always a good idea though.

If he's got the wrong plugs then the iridiums will make a huge difference. My small port ran like shite 'till it had the right ones in and tuned. Maybe big ports are different(?).
He's only just bought the car, and is asking the FIRST things he should do. I know it's not a performance upgrade, but first thing I do when I get a new (second hand) car is change the oil and various filters.
Just my opinion.
If I sound pissed off it's 'cos I am.
I've just worked 10 hours in a warehouse at -30 degrees and my legs are sore.
