Re: K-MAC v Noltec adjustable strut bearing plates

My experience with both has been:
The KMAC's bend easily when the sturt bottoms out - if you have firmer springs and shocks this won't happen so eliminates the problem. The Noltecs are sturdier in my opinion and will take some degree of compression from the struts, but everyone has different ideas on suitable limits. Personally, I'd focus more on spring and shock suitability than Strut top, but this also leans away from the modern line of thinking of firmer sway bars, with softer springs and shocks, too.

Agreed. An adjustable strut top will allow correction of undesired camber resulting from said strut upgrade.
Thanks for your helpful input.

Here is what I wrote in another post last week about my experience with K-Mac strut tops:
"to answer your question, I have a set of K-mac adjustable tops and yes they do the job but I would not recommend them from my experience.
Mine had to be made specially, they were not kept in stock. They took 2 weeks to be made and when being fitted to the car the 3 mounting holes did not line up, strange considering they were meant to be made specifically for my car. A call was made to K-Mac, they assured they were the correct ones and that the 3 holes in the strut tower should just be filed out the extra 7mm or so to fit.
They have a very limited range of adjustment on my car (may be different on other vehicles) with 0.5 degrees negative camber being as much negative camber as I can get. I am using my original struts with coil overs, if I had used different struts with different stub axle angle I would be needing different strut tops most likely.
They didn't come with dust caps (old ones didn't fit either).
The bearing in the strut tops are already shagged after only about 4000km of driving.
When I asked why my kit didn't come with the dust caps for the tops via email I got no response. I spoke to them face to face at a car show and was given some bizarre story that got so far off track I ended up walking away (incidentally all the kits they had hanging up on display had the dust caps in them).
The fisnish quality is average and the accuracy of the placement of the centre mounting point surrounded by the urethane leaves a lot to be desired.
I hope this isn't portrayed as a pointless bagging of K-Mac, this is just my first hand experience, I am sure others have had a better time with them. Like I said though, they do the job, in an ugly sort of way."
Hope this is of use SSI.

Yes, and it's not the only time I've heard similar stories.

Yep basically, if I had the choice, I'd be going the Noltec items over KMAC, unfortunately, as I like KMAC springs and sway bars.
