Sub and Amp question

Guys
my 10inch sub is playing silly buggers. I have an audio gods 200W amp and a clarion sub.
I start the car and it works fine. Big bass. Then it will just stop working and not work again until I start the car again (or just switch to acc). It happens very intermittantely. Sometimes it doesnt happen??
Does anyone know what could be causing this. Its really annoying!
Thanks in advance

Its overheating and going into safe mode, probably. Same thing happened to me.
Either that, or:
Have you got your amp bridged? If so, that'll be why its overheating. If you bridge cheap 2 channel amps into a single sub then they cut out all the time like yours is. Again, same thing happened to me.

Thanks for the reply mate yes I am bridging! I will look into that.
The amp I have now is a cheapy, however it used to happen more often with my old Blaupunkt 200W (not so cheap)
Its funny, shes been working fine for the last 2 days, touch wood, I would rather not fiddle with it while its working.
As soon as she goes down again I will take it off bridge mode. My amp sits under my drivers seat perhaps it is a little hot down there. However the problem somtimes occurs afteronly driving the car for 90 seconds (cold)

Also check if you have tightend the ground cable up becuase that could be your problem as well.

Thanks nick. I used the same ground point in my new MR2 as the pro installers did in my old one. I even sanded it a little to ensure a connection. However I might try a different point also.
Cheers

I agree with chrishulbert. That is most likely an overheating issue. If it happens even when the car is cold, perhaps you have damaged the equipment from being too hot, or something has come loose over time? (eg, wiring, ground bolts, internal component?)
GL with fixing it!
