how do you take the standard handbrake button off the handbrake in the ae86?
apparently you can unscrew it but it doesn't stick out far enough to get a good grip on it.
can anyone help?

Yeah all you have to do is unscrew the current button as explained, and remove the internal spring. Then unscrew the rear seat knob, cut it down a little then screw it onto the threaded shaft in your handbrake.
Then no more accidental thumb slips and subsequent handbrake sticking!

i made a sleeve to replace the original handle with a fancy type macined inside that works like a normal spring handbrake but when you wound the button down it acts like its locked in witout any chance of ratcheting.
worked sweet in my old car i may consider making a limited run of 2-3 if anyone is willing to cover costs but i need a lever to cut down from your model car or similar.

ok its an alloy sleeve that replaces half of your current handbrake lever to make it the same size as original.
works like an original handbrake till you wind the button in so it holds itself in no ratchet is possible then. its complicated inside but works well can look flashy too depending on what style you choose
