i have a 2TG block here with 18RG pistons from my cuz's 74 celica that got stolen thats sitting here not doing anything, the motor was the only thing that was left in good state, anyway it is possible to do ive heard abit about it, my cuz told me the mechanic did everything for him, as for performance i wasnt sure because i never had a chance to ride in it, it got stolen a couple days after freshly rebuilt with it in there.. he told me he whooped a non turbo skyline the old R31 shape sillouette with LSDs in em, (they are quite fast) i dont know much about clearances n such though im sorry.. hope that helps
cheers.

I know this is an old thread, But with the engine getting ready for a rebuild in the next week or so, I have been wondering about this also. Is it possible? OR... is it easier to use my 2t block with 3t crank and 3t-c pistons. I think I have the newer version 2tg block. How do I tell for sure? I do know that if I have the newer of the 2tg blocks then there is nothing more to do than strap in a 3t crank and rebore to suit 3t-c pistons...
So... 18R or 3TC pistons?

3T-C pistons are the same bore as the 2T, so I wouldn't bother doing a swap. If you're going to the trouble of a full rebuild, you might as well fork out for new pistons which can be built to any specs you require. That way you can get a bit more compression as well.

At the moment I have a few prices given to me, so just looking for cheaper options again. 3TC pistons can be used on a 2t crank? I was aware that I would have to use these with a 3t crank, giving me a larger cc. I have been given a price to get cast pistons made by JP Pistons in Adelaide for $68 each, but not sure if I can trust cast pistons. He also makes cilica pistons for racing. I was thinking that I might be able to get some 18R pistons and get a rebore to the correct size, but not sure if it is a good option. Other prices I have been quoted is for 2TG 9.71:1 $135 ea from Sleeka Spares, or $348 for a full set of std 8.4 (I think)pistons from Repco. Anyone know of other options?
