MX83 Rotors - HELP Wed, 22 September 2004 11:38 Go to next message
I have a set of USA spec MX83 front brake rotors that I was planning to put on an '89 Cressida.

They have the following dimensions:

Centre Hole - 60mm
Height - 68mm
Thickness - 22mm
Diameter - 279mm

They are the same as an Aussie series 2 MX83 rotors, except for the diameter, which is 23mm larger.

I also have a set of pads (Nippon brand) that came with the rotors and they're exactly the same as the Aussie ones.

How can I make these rotors fit? (Note that I have Aussie series 2 calipers).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well the rotors will obviously fit, but you're going to have clearance problems with the calipers. You'll have to either relocate them somehow or use different ones (eg US-spec MX83 calipers).

If I can't find a solution they'll be up for sale. Although I'd really prefer to have them on my car.

I'm open to all reasonable suggestions!!!

Would you know if the JZX81 Chaser set up is the same as the US Cressida? What's the diameter of your discs?

Rather than going to all the trouble of hunting down and then fitting Chaser front struts, get a bracket engineered to fit between your calipers and the original caliper mounting brackets.

That suits me fine, what sort of business should I be looking for to get the job done?

Does anyone in Melbourne know somewhere that they can recommend?
