who watched it?
It was full on..I didnt know these things pop up every year, that they actually give off frequency changes that are not only picked up by scientific equipment but that you can feel aswell, and when you convert the geometrical shapes and sizes through mathematics they make music
dont mean to sound like a tripper but i was really spunn out by how much we know about these things now...

Hi,
Nothing wrong with hippies, man!
They don't rice up cars - except painting flowers on their old Kombi vans. They don't cause wars or have major angst against the world. They like cool 60's/70's rock music. They don't destroy the environment. They aren't god-squadders. They enjoy getting blithered on their own homegrown dope and home brewed beer. They turn their nose at wealthy "I got more money than you so you can get stuffed" rich wankers. They dislike large bullish corporations. They distrust politicians and governments. They're often more spiritual than the average person. They don't impose their ideas or beleifs upon others.
Yeah man, hippies are cool. Pity that there's not enough of them around.

for the record
i listen to cool 60/70 music (i will list the bands if need be)
i dont cause wars
i dont trust the government
i even wear flared jeans (was doing so before their recent revival)
but i dont like smelly hippies who funk up the interior and ventilation system of a perfectly good MX23 corona (which i bought) with rubbish and dog hair!!!
its just not cool!!
also i could go on about the hypocracy of the shitty kobmi's they drive vs the preaching of the preservation of the environment but i wont.....
i would like to however discuss old rock bands

eer. i thought crop circles thing had been debunked
there was a (new scientist?) story about two old geezers who made the circles. all they needed was a length of rope and a long board/plank that they used to knock over the wheat

i thought the music started after the 3rd bucket bong?

Hell yeah! Clapton is the man...... Some of my fav's are Strange Brew, Born under a bad sign, and The White Room. I'm constantly having arguments with my old man about who is/was better - Hendrix or Clapton.
Of course bands like Led Zep sorta go without saying in this discussion.

ok - so mr julius sumner miller, tell me what is so amazing about one organised, symbolic, structured language, and translating it to another organised, symbolic, structered language ... and whoa! low and behold! ...the result is organised, structured, and sounds like meaningful music...

I didn't believe one bit of that doco.
Everyone knows the Venutians come down and make them every year.
Privately chuckles at the hordes of drunk uni students that do this every year and the fact that they have got a series of wackos to believe that there is a supernatural force doing it.

Hi,
The Led Zep "Remastered" album has crop circles on the cover.
Touche! I combined classic 70's rock and crop circles together in a single, structured, organised sentence!
Remember Erik Van Daniken who, years ago, made a few documentaries and wrote some books (Chariots of the Gods) about extra-terrestrial evidence on the planet?
However, I'd beleive in aliens making crop circles before I could beleive in babies being thrown overboard.
Here's another... Deep Purple

Hi,
Aye, Mr McSlut, "The Who" is indeed a grand band.
As I type this reply, and wonder if riceburner is upset 'cos we seem to have hijacked his thread, I'm listening to a 70's compilation CD I made a few days ago. Ya see, now that I finally got a new stezza in the car - finally one with a CD - I decided that only 70's rock is allowed to be played in the old girl. It suits her early 70s vintage.
Anyway, I just heard Ballroom Blitz from the Sweet and now it's playing Children Of The Revolution by Trex. Simply marvellous stuff. It appears that music, like Celicas, were the best in the 70's.
However, all is not lost in this thread. In reverence to riceburner, who started it, I promised my wife I'd vacuum the place and am doing it by making wierd circular patterns on the carpet.

Ahhh... Memories of my old house. We had a HUUUGE backyard and I used to make my own crop circles using different heights on the mower blade - It was either the mower or the peewee 50!

Love the Stones.... I can't remember my fav song of theirs, but I think it's 'Can't you hear me knocking' or something.
And Sabbath rule. Was it Ronny James before Ozzy? Or am I confused with another band?

yep, 'cant you hear me knocking' is an awesome song but it drags on a bit at the end and I usually skip it to the next track. another good sabbath song is 'symptom of the universe'.
Ive never heard of ronny james but im probably not old enough. i just thought ozzy was the only singer.

Hi,
You guys are prolly too young, but I remember going to Caringbah Inn to watch the Divinyls. The singer, Chrissy Amphlet (I think that was her name) was so ugly that she was attractive. She'd pour a jug of beer over her head and piss on stage. Simply marvellous stuff. There's something about a chick, dressed in a skimpy school uniform, drenched in beer and pissing on stage that I found uplifting and rebellious.
Suzi Quattro was always good to watch also. She'd play the bass down low and rubbed herself with it as bassed along. I play a bit of bass myself and tried her technique, but I found it strangely discomforting.

Hi,
Hmmm... we could do some old classics.. my "My Corona" by the Knacks, "Celica" by S&Garfunkel, "The Wind Cries Camry" (if you don't know who did that, then you're a splitarse) and I suppose we could come up with some ghey song for the Corolla
Actually, didn't Toyota have an ad when they sang "C-o-r-o-l-l-a along" or something stupid like that?
I bags wearing the school uniform, drenching myself in beer and pissing on stage. I'd love to do a Dave Hill (guitarist from Slade) and backflip onto the speaker/amp boxes while playing, but I think I'd just fall over and look silly - worse still, maybe hurt myself.

Hi,
Aye, McSlut, you are indeed correct. Give the man a banana!
Hendrix was a left-hander. Good stuff. I'm a lefty also, but he payed a r/h guitar upside down. He was a freak and a damn, damn fine guitarist.
Pity he died so young. It would of been marvellous to see what other great songs he had in him. I doubt he'd go ghey like so many others that hung around and got gheyer as they got older. That would of been a shame.
