Hey
Heard news last night that my mates mate bought that Gold 3SGTE AE86. You ae86 enthusiasts should know the one, its a bright gold chameleon sort of colour. Came with bulk spares including a motor, supra gbox. Apprently this thing puts out 350rwhp and has had money spent on everything. It has a GT30 snail hanging off the 3sgte, a supra gbox and hilux diff with lsd.
anyway the lucky bastard only paid ~13k for it
i woulda bought it anyday

If it's the one that was in fast fours ages ago, it'll have a pollished plenum with a TRD sticker on it, i still pull that mag out from time to time to drool over the car! Absolutly awesome, congrats to your mate & if he'll let you take pics please do!!!!!!!

I dont understand
Why would it take him soo long to sell a car like that it has clearly had thousands spent on it...I have seen it in fast fours and i would imagine it would be mighty fast!

Maybe because there's a lot of wankers and time wasters around?
I think the problem with selling a modified car is always going to be that you need to find a buyer who is looking for EXACTLY what you've done to it.. I've looked at some cars and been *just* able to afford them, but would probably have had to spend another 5 grand or more changing the things I didn't like about them.. That's when it gets to the point where the car becomes un-affordable..

yeah I understand that part but I would have thought a Fast Fours (as ghey as the forums are) feature car would have sold in an instant...
I mean seriously $13g's (good price, no sarcasm)
AE86Drift paid more than that for his trueno and yes It is a sexual car but it (IMO) hasnt had the cash spent on it like this one has!
What i dont understand the most is that there is all this hype about sprinters and how people will pay $5 grand for a stocker with a 4AC and then spend the thousands necessary on decent suspension, a 1.6 developing 100kw, 2 way diff, seats, stereo, and the list goes on and then they end up spending $15K on the car anyway!
Why wont someone spend the extra 8 to get one that you can drive/drift/touge all you want without having to do anything but drive, clean and put petrol in the phucker?
Sorry for rant, but it just aggitates me when people pour there heart and soul into a car and then get back only a small fraction of what it cost them...
/end rant

yep thats Jon Robert's beats of an '86, a lot of people will remember it from Hot 4's No. 57, July 2000.
3SGTE, huge FMIC, was running like 18psi of boost, Supra gearbox, Trueno tailshaft , but the most surprising of all, a Trueno 4.4:1 locked diff. the thing has like 350hp.
going by Hot 4's, the car had so many Trueno bits and pieces through it it's not funny, but had a Levin front and Oz-spec tail-lights.
the only things that i can see that have changed are the number plates, and the mesh from the front bar that covered the 'cooler has been removed.
in the article it says that is has "ventilated 13-inch front discs with two-piston Soarer calipers".
AE95 can you ask your mates mate what exactly those front discs are? and also what else the front brake setup consists of?
every time i see the car its a slightly different shade, the colour variations in different light are pretty amazing lol.
congrats to you're mate, damn he is gonna have fun!!

Yeah
i think he had it advertised for 20k which is still a pretty good deal if you ask me. had trouble selling so decided to cut his losses and sell for 13k.
i think the car now runs a hilux rear end.
Driftae86 yeah this car is in perth. ill ask him if he'll come along to a cruise.
Sprinter-saurus ill ask him when he comes on

I love the paint on the car (not saying it suits the car, each to their own) but the colour shift is much more attractive than the Hypercolour paints around.
The paint was a Chamelian paint called fire somesuch and shifts from gold to red. And from what I've seen shifts really nicely as well.
I would have liked this car as well back in 2000 as I really do like the look of it.

i dont know, the engine seems mounted way too far forward. its a bit pitch potch. more of a "hots 4s" type of car than an actuall sprinter for ae86 enthusiasts.

Yep true.
I looked at this car, (its been for sale for years, literally. He originally wanted over 17K for it). I was most unimpressed with the quality of engineering that went into the conversion.
There are shitloads of stories about the trouble he had getting it to run right, and get it over the pits.
Having said that, for under 14K, I guess its worth it
