Power Steering very noisy- MA70.. help!

Hey all,
I have a 1JZ powered MA70 Supra, and I am having problems with the power steering on the car.
Basically it is sucking into the system and causing the pump to become noisy.
When you start the car it is fine, but once u start to trottle it sucks air in, air-rates the oil and staves the pump.. you can see bubbles in the resevour to confirm this.
Now I have just had the pump rebuilt and new seals put on, they have put it back onto the car and its still sucking air in from somewhere..wtf! .. they have also replaced a number of hoses but alas no luck. They are going to try a new resevour today.
Has anyone had a simular problem before with either a Supra or another car?, I just can't figure out where it would be coming in and they are now suggesting steering rack ... which I hear is big $$$$.
Cheers,
Rob.

For air to be getting into the system, I would suggest that fluid must be escaping. Look for an obvious leak and repair.
Of course, the fluid level might be a bit low and it might be intermittently entraining air from the reservoir when cornering. Top it up to the correct level when hot and drive it around to 'bleed' out the air. Check level again and top it up. I suspect the system wasn't bled when the pump was rebuilt.
Hope this helps.

Cheers thanks for all your help. I will keep you informed Jag65 and let you know the outcome.
Hopefully it just needs to be bleed, I can not work out how the hell it could leak air in now after the whole thing has been rebuilt and brand new seals have been put in.. plus all the other new parts.
There is definately no leak in the system.

the air is in there from when u put the fluid in.. i know mine when the converison was done was run before the power stering was installed...
but.. also let me know if u work out a good way to fuck it off
doesent make dick all noise compared to my fuel pump though

I had the exact same problem in my MA61 after the 2JZ conversion. It took me a while to figure out what was going on because there were no visible leaks when the engine was idling - however, when I gave the engine a rev I could see the pump inlet hose collapsing inwards (it actually went nearly flat) which opened up a previously-invisible hole, and that was sucking air into the system. Basically the hose was stuffed, so I put a new one on and the problem went away.
Moral of the story, check the condition of all your hoses and replace any of them if they look suspect. Mine had gone all soft and squishy but they can also go hard and brittle.

Just got work for the shop, they took the pump apart again and realised that one of the o'rings had popped out from inside when the 1st rebuilt it (yesterday) ..this is causing the issue with the air coming into the system.
So yep Jag7799 if you have replaced all the lines then I would nealy 100% bet that your PS pump needs a rebuild with new seals.
My PS pump did not have any visible leaks, but the rings were shot inside.
I have also had most of the hoses replaced aswell as some were stuffed.

Just got car back, it is quiet as a mouse now and steering is so much smoother
Rebuild and all parts labour cost around the $500 mark, but there was a fair few things that needed replacing that were buggered from the lack of oil. Plus replaced a lot of hoses that were getting old.
For a bit of trivia, the 1JZ PS pump is the same as what they use on the Hilux..well it shares the same internals.

thats not a suprise, toyota uses many of the same parts for everything. I actually looked at my 22re pump and thought it was similar to the 1jz ones i have seen

Yep it is a bit costly , but if you had heard mine u would have paid anything to get it fixed
It was not good to see people staring at the car not because of the car itself, but the terrible noise that was coming from under tho bonnet.
If yours is quiet yes I would not bother until it is needed.

after emptying a power sterring system they obviously get air in them .
a few tricks slighlty overfill the the fluid level
add a bottle of wynns power steering additive (this makes them a lot quieter)
and open the lowest point on the rack and bleed off a fair bit of fluid BUT keep the fluid level high . tighten evrything up .
leave the fluid tank cap off . jack the car up and turn the wheels from side to side full lock for about 10 mins .keep an eye on fluid level .
then after a few days of driving check the level a few times and they are usualy fine
