Supercharger clutch (do I need it)

I have a 1ggze engine that I dropped into the hilux today. Now I want to know about my supercharger? How does the clutch work on it? What makes it come on, when does it come on?
Do I need a clutch on it? Or can it be run simply off the pully?
If you could take some time out to explain it that would be great.
1. I am wondering if I can remove the clutch set up so that I have some more room for the radiator.
2. I am also wondering how the clutch works anyway for when I wire this engine up.
Cheers
Tonka

Clutch works like an AC clutch - you apply power, it locks, you remove power, it freewheels. The ABV allows the engine to breath when the blower isn't running.

me thinks it is a choce between a SC clutch or a SC that rapidly wears itself out from over use.
GZE ECU is supposed to decide whether to use the ECU or not

it decides whether to use itself or not?
i think you mean it decides to use the supercharger or not

i think one is a tactical choice (whether to let the ECU decide when to use the SC) and a longevity test - how long a toyota SC lasts when used 100%
i'm assuming Tonka want's to see how long a SC lasts when not wired up as per factory?

My main reason for not running the clutch was to make it easier to fit a radiator in my hilux. The SC clutch makes things real tight.
Looks like Im keeping it from the responses.

toyota SC is not designed to air sucked thru it (e.g. when there is high manifold vacuum). is why there is a bypass arrangement on 4agze (and 1ggze i think).
the ECU detemines when to switch the blower on - which is usally when you are generating a large amount of power. I think ECU also controls the bypass valve.
being on 100% will shorten life of blower considerably and you will get no benefit from it at low rpm or power output (e.g. cruising or idling).
you might be able to get a Wolf ECU (or any other ECU) to drive it if it can be programmed to enable the SC under certain conditions (e.g. low vacuum, near WOT, high airflow, etc).

it usually comes on at about 1500 to 2000 rpm
u have to remember if it comes in when revs are to hi it will slip abit
this will drastically wear the clutch surfaces
toyota spent many work hours figuring out the best time for it to come on
y go changing it
if u want a supercharger that is on all the time buy a
sprintex supercharger
