ra40 --> 83' cressida discs + struts, also xmember for 1g convertion......worth the effort? Sat, 25 September 2004 07:23 Go to next message
i was wonderin if this would be a worthwhile conversion. how much would it improve my braking power??. i can get the whole strut legs for free with everything. have read the article in the tech notes thing. is this gunna mix up the handling?
tell me what u think . most of the stuff ive got of the cressida so far has fitted; power steering, power windows, power locking(some with minor mods)

will go and measure it up now

crossmembers look very compatible too, maybe this would be in some interest if i was to put a 1g in later on down the track. the cressida crossmember goes to the back ie. for a front sump. it looks like the back of the xmember would go very close to the steering linkages.

thanx

brett

the % increase in diameter (maybe measure from pad centres) will be your increase in braking power (leverage to the wheel). a change in caliper piston will alter the feel of the brakes. bigger discs/pads will delay heat problems a bit...

i went out and measured the cressida strut and the disc diametre is about 250....hard to get an accurate measure ment with a tape measdure. i will measure the ra40 one tomorow and compare.
also, one would assume the cressieeda being heavier than the celica, it would need better brakes. thats only an assumption thou

also, what the fark does IIRC mean???

Definitely worth, it you should investigate if these brakes are bigger before you consider the upgrade Wink

For all your brake measurements, see www.dba.com.au.

RA40 - solid 254mm diameter
MX62 - vented 248mm diameter

Would help with cooling, but your losing out in diameter... There are better option out there I'd imagine.

smaller eh, thats a bit of a bummer. i could have got it all for free too but i guess i aint worth the effort.

does a 1g bolt into a mx62 cressida (disregarding the g/box)??
maybe something to think about... Rolling Eyes

thanx
