SICK!!! Very Happy

Where's the bonnet scoop from the first one? Makes it look like a 4 door celica station wagon.

For me it looks just a tad stretched out from the side profile, but overall I still think I'd give it two thumbs up Smile

Reminds me of the Mazda SP20.

Still, I think it's a pretty nice looking car (The Caldina) Smile

Isnt it funny how car design goes through stages of being rounded, then angular, then rounded again, and so on. If look at the cars in the 70's, they were all quite round. Then about the 80's they started to become angular. Then 90's seem to go back to rounded again. Looks like we're back to angular again...

As for the Caldina.. I'm finding it hard to figure out if I like it or not. I'd probably have to see one in the flesh.

What the hell is with all the massive asses on the new toyotas these days, they are all flat and bloody high, you won't be able to see out the back soon, the taillights will be in the way...

Still, the front is cool..

Not the prettiest thing, but I guess it will probably grow on me.

I like the 3S-GTE bit tho!

i dont know why they never imported the caldina here

its an AWESOME machine

GT4 running gear in it basically - less turbo in standard form ..

they can murderise legacy GT wagions and can match it with WRX wagon/hatches with ease ..

friend in QLD whos on this list swapped in a 3stge into his and its a brilliant machine - hence why i was trying to get one for ages ..

relatively straightforward engine swap - and whee !

Australia SHOULD bring the new one out - toyotas SUCK atm for new performmance cars - no supra - no turbo celicas - just pissweak corolla excuses with levin badges and bodykits

the camry sportivo is good - and the tunings great but still couls have more grunt

What about the 2ZZ-GE Corolla that's gonna come out soon? That thing will blow every other hot hatch out of the water. Let's just hope that it'll be priced intelligently...

nark - what are the details on that new hot hatch corolla ?

i heard rumpurs from local toyota dealer - that the celicas gunna get meaner again to match the Type R(ice) integra , with a new motor - and that theres another toyota coming out wiuth the vvti variable cam motor from the current celica - could that be it ?

Hopefully they wont be in that ugly body !

I know I'm not Nark but I have it here.
The Corolla T-Sport is coming around mid-2003 and will have the 140kW 2ZZGE and 6-speed from the current shape Celica. Unfortunately it is going wo weigh around 1255kg, but should still be a good thing. Lets just hope it doesn't end up being $40k like the bloody Corolla Sportivo... No No No

I think I should buy into this argument, seeing as I own a Caldina (2 models before current, the one before the 3S-GTE).
The last model looked pretty aggressive, plus it had taillights similar to a Supra, but I reckon this one is too angular.

Classique71, does the guy you know in Qld have a black one with body kit at the Gold Coast?

Who made that comment a while ago regarding Toyota Australia's conversation with Mother Toyota? Something along the lines of "got anything with a carby?" ... Like we're ever going to see the 3S-GTE version ...
