tacho rpm and flywheel question

hey guys. i've got a trueno which has a heavy duty clutch but im also pretty sure has a replaced or lightened flywheel
(the throttle repsonse is VERY sharp), but i find the tacho isn't 100% accurate, especially if i floor it in 1st gear.
it's supposed to redline at 7750 but at full acceleration in 1st gear, the engine cuts at around 7000rpm.
i think the tacho needle is trying to catch up but can't quite make it. if i'm not accelerating hard, the engine will cut normally at
7750. does anyone know a way to make the tacho accurate? would something like a shift light assembly work or does it run off
the tacho needle? do i need to buy an aftermarket tacho? thanks.
