icon5.gif  AE101 front cut bits (gbox, CV's, driveshafts, struts, brakes etc) will they fit into my AE92 hatch? Tue, 28 September 2004 10:26 Go to next message
I have an AE92 hatch with 20V ST that I just bought and the CV's are on the way out, it also jumps out of 5th gear when cruising and still has (I think) standard CSi Ltd front brakes.
I also have an AE101 Trueno (20V ST) frontcut that I am only using the engine and loom from for a clubman I am building. Will the gbox/cv's/shafts/struts/brakes etc go straight into the AE92? What does and doesn't fit?

Thanks all,
Julian.

The gearbox and shafts will, unsure of struts.

The brakes will need modification. Check this link out for details http://www.twincam.org/forums/index.php?showtopic= 1063

Thanks,
The front cut is not fitted with the superstrut option.
So do the 101 CV's match the 92 hubs if I don't change struts and hubs?

Thanks
Julian

the AE101 shafts fit the AE92 hubs. The ae101 non superstrut disc has a 55mm center hole instead of the 54mm like the AE101 superstrut and AE92.

You can either bolt the AE101 hub in place of the AE92 hub, but you will run into problems finding replacement discs when you need them, or you can use DBA discs for a series II SX seca or Gti with the AE101 non superstrut calipers.

To fit the box you will have to change the mechanical speedo drive from your original box into the AE101 box.

Use the Original AE92 gearbox mounts.

they will match

i had the superstruts on mine and used the 20v gearbox and driveshafts to the original ae92 hubs.

if you havent got superstruts then the struts will bolt up to your ae92

Thanks again guys,
Is there a noticable/significant improvement in braking with the 101 callipers on SX/GTi discs? I am not planning on seriously tracking the car but may do a couple with the westfield club to tide me over till I finish building the clubbie.

cheers,
Julian
