Basically, you add a block of metal and longer U-bolts, between the axle and leaf spring.. Basically moves the springs closer to the ground and the axle closer to the bottom of the car.

Just look for lowering blocks or similar, that's what you are after. Or speak to any decent suspension place and they'll be able to point you in the right direction.

I also believe that in a less dodgy fashion you can actually get lowered leaves.

All depends on the height of the springs to begin with, and the amount of lowering required.. Some leaf springs can be lowered, by reducing the ride height, but others are close to horizontal at full load normally, so lowering won't do that much.

I recently had the leaf springs on my AE71 panelvan reset 2" lower. They had to remove the bottom helper spring (the straight one that isn't bolted to the other leaves) to avoid any adverse handling that they would cause by resting on the other leaves.

I'm not sure what process they use to reset the leaves, but they are a much flatter shape then before. Smile And no, they didn't turn one of the leaves upside down.

get leaves reset or get new springs made up.

lowering blocks are fine if you are just cruising around, but they increase the leverage the diff has on the springs, making 'spring wind-up' much worse....
