I've got my exhaust too close to the idler arm (i think thats what its called) on my ra23. there's a little bit of movement on the arm. the beaurepairs bloke said that i needed a new idler arm to fix my steering alignment. It just seems like it needs a wheel alignment but i've tried that and it was good for 2 days then out again. would it be worth putting in a nolthane, urethane etc bush? or is the only solution to move the exhaust and try some heat shelding?
whats the difference between nolthane and urethane??
is it expensive??

Nolathane = brand name. Urethane = petrochemical substance they're made out of.
And yes, it's always worthwhile replacing worn rubber bushes with shiny new urethane equivalents. It should make your steering a little more precise.

cool. I thought they could be more expensive (like everything else with cars)
but do urethane bushes withstand more heat??

Yeah, urethane bushes are more tolerant, but if they're getting that hot, move the exhaust/do some shielding anyway. I put some Noltec front lower arm bushes in my KE70 today, cost an astronomical $22 for the pair.. And sure can feel the difference.

just watch out when fittin nolethane bushes on steering arms
i used to run them on my 1600 but went back to std rubber ones
the rubber ones are all glued together so when u turn the steering it twists the rubber then when u let go the rubber stretches back to straight position
with urathane bushes it doesnt do this
its not much but when working on rally cars we tried to run rubber bushes for better feel
