turn oil drain in sump...what size Thu, 30 September 2004 09:41 Go to next message
as the subject says. Whats a good size pipe to put in my sump as a drain for the oil off the turbo??

Ideally, the same size as your turbocharger oil drain pipe.

Chuck is quite correct - oil cooled and plain bearing turbos require the shifting of a lot of oil and have large drain pipes (as the oil is delivered at high pressure and only uses gravity to get it back to the sump). I have used 3/4" (19mm) for plain bearing turbos and I use 1/2" for the roller bearing - seems to work fine.
