im gunna put a 1JZ-GTE in my AE86.
has anyone done this conversion?
can anyone help me out with any relevant info on this conversion?
will it fit with ease or does it take serious modification?
i alredy have a 3Tgte in my sprinter but want bigger power output so im changing, will the W-55 trans bolt up to the 1JZ or should i use the 1JZ five speed?
if this conversion is not possible is a 1GGTE an alternative?
ive possibly found the 1jz half cut and its $2200 with loom, trans, ecu , intercooler etc! is this price reasonable?
any help on these matters would be greatly appreciated!
ps. is nay one intersted in a 3T-GTE with W-55 5 speed and microtech ecu and loom?
thanks ben

Do you like to turn? You won't be doing much of that with a 1JZGTE in the front of your AE86. It'll go like the clappers ina straight line, but it'll have WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too much weight over the front. It'll ruin the handling.

How much power are you getting from the 3TGTE? Why don't you modify that? I know of someone that isn't using a wastegate on a stock engine and is pushing 24psi through it. Granted it needs an extra 4 injectors that are garden hoses, but the power output is pretty extreme.
No gearbox change either.

yeah that little engine can make some decent power...
i'm sure you car get the 1J in there but yeah she aint little...and the AE86 wont like it toom much
guyz is the 1G much lighter than the 1J???
does the 3s-gte fit and is it worth changing to the 3s i've heard of some whild hp figures produced buy these

Uh, have you actually got your tape measure out before considering this swap? I think you'll find the firewall will have to be recessed about 6 feet to make a JZ engine fit...

There is an AE86 with a 2JZGTE in it......in a Japanese Options magazine.....I think it was essentially for drag purposes only.

Yeah, I think HPI covered the same AE86 too, went hard, real hard, but the handling would be rooted.

I agree with the others, it's way to heavy for swerving xl's, i admire the thought but i think its extremly pointless not to mention the cost front for $2,000, try installing fee, engineers report insurance, plus any other parts needed, try moding an 3sgte, it's 2L, revs to buggery, change the turbo get full exhaust and computer, stick in a quality front mount intercooler and away you go.
Just my opinion

What engineers report? (Tare weight AE86 945kg, maximum displacement 945 x 2.5 = 2,362cc 1JZ is illegal..)
