Very cool - I wonder if it can be modified to fit a set of slicks?...

Ben there was a guy i knew years ago with a SW20 turbo he raced, he welded up a rack that bolted onto the top of the rear struts, all you had to do was remove the two small panels either side of the engine lid. it fitted his 4 race tyres very nicely indeed, it was very simple and worked a treat i reckon i could draw it up from memory

haha, I always wondered about making a towbar and small trailer for this purpose.

I have seen some pics of this done before with an AW11 it was very cool, but with Ferals skills his idea sound like a better one.

For me it was just a bit wanky Embarassed Embarassed

no passenger seat has legality issues but recently i put 2 tyres in the boot and 2 in the passenger seat worked pretty well with a rope to tie the boot down. made it a bit hard to use the left side mirror tho.

personally just get someone to come with you and load their car up or like most people do get some1 to drive a big car and load everyones stuff that they cant take in their car into it.

Yep all good ideas for transporting race wheels / tyres but you could do as i do and just drive to the track with the race tyres on Shocked Shocked i am using Dunlop J01 S (soft) and i dont have any probs. Obviously you dont want to dvive thousands of ks on them but100 ks to and from the track is not going to kill them assuming you are not running crazy amounts of neg camber. I am running about minus 2 degrees, been to Wakefild and Oran gave them a massive flogging Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad , excellent tyre huuuuuuge grip

no dramas Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy the way they are going i reckon i will get a race season or two from them, time will tell

gun metal might be interested in the bootlid.

Great colour two tone you have there cant go wrong grey doesnt look dirty to easily and neither does white plus white dosent make your car get hot

Maybe, i will see if i can straighten yours first, its only in the middle where the centre post for the wing mounts, its only a couple of mm over the width of the lid and a bit of a depression, obviously the packing did the damage like you said before

Yep they look cool but how do they mount ?

Also Dave what sort do you have ? have you got any pics ?

Any one i have spoken to about AW11 roof racks talk about bolting THROUGH the roof Sad dont like that idea at all

How do they mount... do you really wnna know Scott? here is a pic you may recognise, but maybe not, found it a while back.

http://img222.echo.cx/img222/6850/2363609img3fx.jpg

This is also a pic of my roof racks I have for mine, they just clip on either side, but I plan to make a couple of supports to sit them back a bit further like the toyota ones, cause they are not far enough appart to carry much.

http://img222.echo.cx/img222/8505/aw119424fv.jpg

And yess I do use them occasionally, they come in handy for any things that come up unexpecdidly that are too large to fit in the car, I keep them in the frunk with some tie down straps.

I dunno I think it was either early 2004. I originally found it on the SA mr2 club site, it was the 20th anniversary of the MR2 club of Aust.

Maybe a good Idea to ask clown as he was there, you can see his car in the background (plus I got abother close up photo of him looking kinda dumbfounded at the camera as he exited Laughing ), and it also looks like maybe gearb0x's in the corner.

Yeah I gotta admit though, they do look kinda cool in a traveling kinda way.

would be very easy to make too. could make/shape it like a custom ice box is made, sheets of urethane foam and fibreglass. once a jet ski trailer was sourced the (and paid for, arrghh) hardest part is fabbing up a tow bar to fit (which i did start before my roadtrip). Smile

feral if you want an easy towbar something like this would do right, bolts onto the exhaust mountings. the trailer would only be light if it was fibreglass and carried wheels

hrmm.. interesting. i started making one from box section steel, i grinded off the mounts from an original rear bumper (where it goes in to the chassis, 1 of them exhaust bolts go up through it). was going to put a doodbie in the middle that bolted through the middle of the boot to a flat bat section thats bolted throught the floor of the boot (strength). then i
was going to make a square bit like a lot of cars/4wd have so you can put in or remove the tow bar hitch bit with a pin.

I have Rola and unfortunately, I don't have any pics with them attached.
They do bolt to the roof which I suppose isn't the strongest or best if you ever want to remove them, but they're pretty discreet when they're not attached.

dunno, never actually put anything on them yet Smiley =

but if I do it'll only ever be snowboards and skis.

There is a small dent about an inch in front of one of the mountings though, so I reckon it probably would/has with anything weighty being on there

On mine I have put my bike, that works quite well, but I need the rear bar back a bit further for more stability.

Wiso,

Thanks for clarifying that, its just that my car was obviously dumped with a big exhaust when i got it and Dave was talking about the racks i thought someone may have known a bit more about the history of my SC.

But while on the subject of finding stuff in cars, when i did the rebiuld / respray of the bedford we found all sorts of stuff.

about 10kg of assorted nuts and bolts loose in the wheel wells, insulation tape, about 200m of foam strips a couple of old arials, can of WD40, not to mention about 40 kg of dirt / sand, fibre glass and RUST !! Laughing Laughing

Very nice pics. (Red ones look especially good... and go faster!)... Next time I will have to come down for the start of the run.

BTW: Make sure you send a pic or two and a blurb off to Kevin Clarence of the MR2 Club to include in the next ten/10ths.

PS: You want me to photoshop those incidentals out for you. Just kidding. Very Happy... Hey if it's good enough for Ken Duncan.

Sheeesss. That Erebuni kit is fitted almost worse than mine. (see pics in my sig). Look at the line on the side-on shot it's up and down like a 2 dollar ho... See how much lower my kit sit's than this one. Check how close it sits to the side-vent and side marker light... strange indeed. It's like wearing your undies up around your armpits. Jap Kit tho... not the Carmate version. Like the blacked out SC tail lights.
Car has a lot of potential in the right, tastefull hands.
Also... happy to now know that my G-Limited is now "Very Rare" Very Happy

Sorry,

But i think that is the ugliest AW11 i have ever seen.

I think it has potential but that interior is way over the top for me...sorry again, and like Adam said what is going on with that kit ?

I would love to see Fats comments on this car Laughing Laughing

And how do you get the 15 psi did someone say SC14 is that all an SC14 would be good for ?? and with a Nevo pulley ??

Something does not sound right to me.

Anyway i have sent the dood an enquiry if you guys are serious i can have a look at it for you its less than an hour down the road from my place and there are some good roads on the way Evil or Very Mad

That car is teh ugly!

Why would you do that to an AW11?

as for the 1.8l stroker... As far as I know it is very difficult if not impossible to stroke a 4AGE out to 1.8L. HKS made a 1.7l stroker kit (often referred to as the 5AGE) and that required some fairly heavy block modification for clearancing. To get 1.8 there would be a fair amount of chopping involved and even then the piston skirts may not clear the counterweights.

My guess is that at some stage the 4AGZE shat itself (or more likely this is an NA converted to SC - note that there are no engine bay shots) and was replaced with a 7AFE bottom end.

The 7AFE is not known for its internal strength and due to the very poor aftermarket support for it I doubt that anyone would have strenghtened rods for it off the shelf. You could get them made of course but the cost would be crazy.

Dont get me wrong tho - this could be a good car if the time and money have been spent to do the engine mods properly but if it is half the dodge up job that I think it is I wouldnt touch it with a barge pole. Either way you would have to remove that awful bodykit! Razz

i agree would be a 7afe block but i would be weary about weather it has been stroked or if the owner is just full of it.

Ray Hall turbocharging did a quite successfull conversion using the 7afe bottom end with a 20v head then they turboed it.

Ray Hall did do a good job but they spent the time and money developing it and I believe that they stated that they wouldnt build them for customers because it was too much of a pain in the ass.

Someone should call him and ask what has been done to it.
