ok then it will be the first method that you will need. If the clutch needs to be engaging/disengaging closer to the floor I think you'd need to screw the pushrod in.

Can I just say I had the pleasure of going for a ride in Bens SC AW11 on the weekend, it was, amazing, I reckon it pulls a lot more than a Gen 3 3S-GTE! Loved it....now do I turn away from the SW20's to the dark side...I must say SC's seem a little addictive.

im having dramas of my own. Ive had the driveshaft seals replaced but the gearbox still seems to be leaking oil (hope its not a cracked case again) i went around a corner today and the damn thing open wheeld the whole way. grrrr bloody shitty gearboxes its costin me a small fortune in oil too.

How did everyone else mount their gearbox when they did their s/c conversion?

I used the n/a left gearbox mount. Ive heard that people had problems with the driveshaft touching the a arm but i seem to be having no such problems and the engine and gearbox sit level. I wonder if this may be contributing to my problems.

gday folks

its interesting that the driveshaft stuffs have come up recently as thats something we will need to know in the near future - my brother has been after a manual s/c box to replace his auto one (he misses the manual box hehe). It looks like we ve found a candidate - an e58 lsd. now im not too big on the box conversion details done some reading and searching but not come up anything concrete for the specifics id like to know. (edit : just for clarity the donor car is a s/c and the recipient also s/c - only change being the auto to manual box)

#1 is there a difference between the SC's auto and manual flywheels? i recall years ago when i had a 1600 and swapped the donk the donors auto flywheel was considerably bigger than the original manual one and had to be swapped to allow the new (formerly auto) engine in. is the same appliccable to the GZe? as in i will need to switch the flywheel as well to make the convert work? ive assumed yes and the manual fly is on the parts list.

#2 on what was said fairly recently that the e58 lsd and nonlsd shafts being different lengths on the RHS. does anyone know if its possible to use the driveshafts already on the car (the auto shafts with the manual LSD box?) or if anyone has the measures for the auto parts?

last lil thing is to ask if anyone heres done the auto/manual conversion and if theres any tips youd have. i already know from looking online i will need to bridge the 'park' safety switch so the engine can start up properly, and its possible reverse light wiring will be necessary. does anyone have any more info on that? the page that did mention it was a lil skimpy on detail is all...

(even better if someone/a workshop here in brissy has already done it! not really much substitute for previous experience ive noticed Smile )

thanks in advance
Cheers Smile

(Disclaimer: and yes ive already taken a search or few..)

Doods,

Some excellent AW11s !!

I have two, an NA that i have had for 15 years and an SC that i have had for 6 months.

Have been thinking about going GTE, would love to hook up and go for a spin with someone who has one of these beasts. What is the possibility of meeting some of you Sydney siders.

125 kw at the wheels if fun but 150 plus sounds like mooore fun !

Scott Dood

PS what size and location are you guys using for intercoolers, mine could be bigger (250 x 300 x 50)

Im about an hours west of Melbourne. Before i bought mine i put a post up on the mr2 forum asking if anyone had one for sale and the previous owner e-mailed me some details etc. Nice car, but no T-tops which is what stoped me from looking at the car in more detail. Also saw it at last years aniversary run in melbourne.

Andrew who told you your steering rack is gone? or what is happening with it?

I got some opinions when mine started to shake a bit all the places said yeah its fucked needs a rebuild, but after looking at a few AW11 sites it said a common problem is the inner rack bush. so I pulled mine out, had a look, in the end (left) of the rack there is a plastic bush that wears out, I pulled mine out got a new one from toyota for $7, put it in and presto, no more steering shakes. took me about 30mins to change over.

Well,

My '89 SC Hardtop took a turn for the worse last night - careering off an embankment, hitting a tree, rolling and coming to rest on another tree.

I have had the car recovered and its not looking too good.

Ill keep you updated as to if it can be salvaged.

Anyone got a spare rolling shell? (mine still runs)

If you use somebody like http://imageshack.us/ once you upload a picture, it will give you the code to paste into the forum.

Just paste the code into your text, it will look something like:

{URL=http://img87.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img87&image=br1 .jpg}{IMG}http://img87.exs.cx/img87/378/br1.th.jpg {/IMG}{/URL}

Except the { & } will be replaced by [ & ]

And it should look something like this:

http://img87.exs.cx/img87/378/br1.th.jpg

i'll probably be selling my old manifold when i get my car back so that will be up for grabs.

In the mean time, my car will be back at the end of next week so im hanging out for that..........

is the old manifold suitable for a t28?

if so i call dibbs on the old manifold

as for the car being back on the road next week you will have to take me for a ride fat.

My turbo is a t28 so yes it will fit. You can also use the a/c as well but you need a fairly tight dump pipe. but hey, mine worked out fine and still made good power.
Hopefully i will see it by next friday Rolling Eyes so fingers crossed.
The old manifold is with my car so i cant get it back till i get my car back. So as long as you arent in a rush it should be good.

Doods,

Still waiting on an invitation for someone to take me for a spin in a GTE, anyone in Sydney got one on the road at the moment ??

Would love to compare it to my 94 GZE, motec equipped beast ??

I am keen to get some ideas for the future, GTE sounds very good but want to feel how they drive.

Furthermore anyone interested in an AW11 get together, let me know i would be happy to organise one.

Yeah I think near everyone on this thread has been for a ride in the feral by now. I was impressed that the little beast still pulls nicely with all that added weight from the kit and subs... and spare tyre rack!
