It depends how you want the finished product to look... whether you want the pop-riveted look or it all flush... to get a good result i believe it is best to have to drill thru the boot...

If you want the pop riveted look then make marks (evenly spaced) and drill thru the wing and the boot, then pop - rivet.. sikaflex is up to you...

Or the flush look ( which i will be going for) get your wing to fir properley then drill thru the wing and boot all the way around with self tappers( like a trial fit) then pull off and sikaflex, then redrill the self tappers in and leave overnight... pull out the tappers the next day and nicky smooth...

sounds easy enough right?

Black sikaflex is the best, its the toughest....

so... in the end it is just the sikaflex that is holding it on?

If you choose to do it that way, yes, the sikaflex with be the only tihng holding it on, but it is dtrong, i mean, if you wanted more you could always countersink screws but that would be prone to cracking the bog eventually..... plus you'd have to find screws that were smalll enough to sit flush with the wing, and that you could still have space to smooth over...

Self tappers are good because you dont have to pre-drill a hole, you can just hold the wing on and start drilling, and it will drill itself thru the wing and the boot....

How'd you go Satoshi?

as i never used self tapper screws before..i use a driller to drill a few holes unto my hatched and after a few push...i broke the drill pin..the reason why i did this way was because at first i tried using the screw tapper but it wouldnt stay..what a biatchhhh

since now i know i dont need to pre-drill a hole...i'll go borrow the drill back from my mate...

I admire your ability to jump into a task like this that involves drilling holes into your car with very little knowledge on the subject.

Yeah drilling holes sucks.... one time when we were using pop riverts we were trying to pre-drill the holes and we ended up snapping about 4 or 5 drill bits.... they werent tuff enuff!!

No, i didnt mean in replacement of the self tappers, i meant take the grinder, cut off the end of your boot and use the wing as a replacment end... just graft it on with metal tabs..... or gaffa tape.. or something.... Very Happy

i think i'll just use duct tape and tape my ducktail instead of self tappers...just incase i see defect station around..i can always just pull it off...and put them back in in less than 5 mins...

Just make sure you get the sikaflex adhesive, not the sealant. Perhaps they could market it specifically for ricers "fullysikaflex". Each pack is only half full, therby reducing weight giving you the powah and handling you deserve.
