Holden Piazza/Toyota Turbo Conversion
Sat, 02 October 2004 00:08
What is the easiest turbo conversion to do to a holden piazza turbo. The 2lt in it at the moment is very tired and im wondering if it is worth rebuilding or is it better to chuck a turbo toyota motor in her? It has a turbo smaller than your average garden snail and a front mount intercooler standard ,which is smaller than a car stereo. Can anyone give me some tips or ideas. I would love either a 4agze turbo, or a 1ggte turbo or a 3sgte turbo? Please help!
a friend of mine had a piazza & was toying with the idea of an sr20 conversion but imo a 1ggte would be nice as it wouldnt upset the balance of the car much
have you priced a rebuild? then have you priced the cost for a conversion...motor/box etc etc etc....it depends how much your willing to spend
hey man a mate of mine had one of those engines fairly stock with a haltech in his gemini and it ripped shit for years, he did get it rebuilt at one point.. cost a fair bit but the engine went heaps hard, even with the stock turbo..
maybe u should keep the motor runnin for as long as u can, upgrade suspension etc, and then do a mild rebuild with more boost/larger turbo/intercooler?
just a suggestion, cos then u dont have to mess around with custom mounts for a different motor.. But if u really wanted to chuck out the single-cammer piazza motor and go unique u could try fit a CA18/SR20, 13Bt, or longer/heavier 6cyl 1GGT... RWD.. or 4A-GTE/3SGT but these motors are fwd and would cost lots$$$ to make fit..
