1984 Supra with 7M-GTE - FOR SALE - $5000 Sat, 02 October 2004 05:14 Go to next message
Very good condition. Very cheap. Very fast. 0-100 in 6.0 sec.

Out runs most WRX's, Skylines, 200sx's and 2004 SS commodores. The only race I lost with this car was against a Dodge Viper.

The engine is taken out from the newer supra (MA70), it is a 3.0L turbo (7M-GTE), and has a 2500 rpm stall converter in the gear box. The rest of the car is in it's original form, no other mods.

Comes with everything you want in a sports car including climate control, cruise control, electric everything, IRS(Independent Rear Suspension) handles great, alloy wheels, sports air filter and nice exhaust.

Things you will find on this supra that you will not find on others is: taillight that says supra in it and brake light on rear spoiler.

Fastest car you can buy for this price. Good price even compared to non-turbo supras. Comes with turbo timer, and boost gage.

I have it on car sales for $5000, check it out http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_conten t.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=1950265&current_r ec=2&total_rec=2&sort_type=&price_max= 5000&make_id=8&model_id=68&state_id=2& amp; amp; amp;search_distance=25

spotted this car a couple of days ago and drooled at how cheap you are selling it for and im planning on building a supra GTE myself. i'd buy it hands down but i dont favour the auto boxes much. couple of questions though. where did u source your engine from and cost, and wat ratio diff do you have in it?

Almost a carbon copy of mine, and what i paid for it except mine was in SA.

I thought it was a bargain when I got it, so hopefully yopurs will sell well.

Is it engineered ? Mine wasn't, but it saved me the cost and the hassle of the conversion

I don't know much about the car, cause I bought it with the conversion done already. It has the original diff in it but not sure about the ratios...and regarding the gearbox, it's the box that makes the car fast, the gearbox has a stall converter in it and will take off quicker than a WRX even at launch. And while the other guy is changing gears this car is getting away.

Wouldn't put a manual in it, I think it will just go slower and get too much wheel spin on take off.

And yeah I got all engineering certificates for it. It already does 0-100 in 6 sec and is just running 7 pound boost. So you could imagine how fast it will go with a little more work done to it.

I havn't done the gasket, don't know if the guy that owned it before me had done it...doesn't look like it has been done, but it has never given me a problem. It over heated once cause there was a hole in the radiator but I fixed that quick and thats all.

Sorry i didn't get back to you earlier about the stall converter...but this is how mine works.

You hold the brake with your left foot and hold the accelarator with your right foot until the revs reach 2500 rpm (any higher and you will be smoking the back tires).

Hold it there and the boost gage will sit at 0 boost.

When the traffic light turns green let go of the brake and the car will shoot off at it's maximum and not get any wheel spin.

This will make you car jump about a cars length or more in front of your opponent.

It's good if you wanna win races and you will get a perfect start each time. It gives you an unfair advantage over manual drivers because their take off will be no where as good as yours.

But if you don't wanna race much stick to the manual cause it's more fun but it's really hard to get a good take off especial in a Supra, cause they are heavy cars.

I think I wrote too much...sorry... Very Happy

I bought the car from Brighton Le Sands.

If anyone wants to see it...you better be quick cause some guy is coming from the north coast today or tommorow to see it. If he is travelling that far he is most likely gonna buy it.

If other 7MA61's can absolutely own a WRX, from standing start, or from rolling start, I'm sure this one can too.

STI's are a different breed. Those things are definitely not slouches.

I think the box is the stock 4 speed, except the person who done the engine conversion also installed a stall converter in it, making the car slightly faster on take off.

And I have beaten many WRX's, even my brother was sceptical until he saw me beat one with his own eyes. Plus a WRX does not travel from 0-100km/h in 5 sec??? It does it in 5.7 with a professional racedriver or car tester driving it...according to this web site http://www.fast-autos.net/subaru/04subaruwrx.html and thats the 2004 model.

The average driver will probably get a up to 100km/h in 6.5 sec thus making it slower than my supra that doesn't lag while changing gears and that will take off from start faster than a WRX with no wheel spin.

If you think that an SS comodore is slow, maybe you should race one and see how slow they really are?? The fastest they tested an SS commodore is 5.8 sec and the slowest is mid 6's...hmmm...that sound really close to that WRX...maybe the SS is not as slow as you thought after all.

It says Toyota Celica Supra because toyota made the supra based off a celica. It's almost exactly the same...main differences are big time nose job, power options, sports seats, susspension and dif (i think), mags, flared around wheels, spoiler on hatch, beefier engine.

Besides that they are the same car. In the next shape up they ditched the celica name because they are pretty different.

After all that...no I would not consider 4K...people are selling non-turbo supras for 6k.
