Thanks for the suggestion 4DaDrift - We're currently looking into splitting up the Parts For Sale section to try and make it a lot less cluttered. We'll try to decide whether there's enough threads posted by people looking to buy cars (as opposed to selling) to make a separate section worthwhile.

Noticed that the for sale has become a sectioned as Classifieds and respective subcategories....looks good. this way it makes things easier when purchasing and browsing for goods.
have to admit, the amount of trading the passes through this forum sure seems like heaps!
Cheers

We're still in the process of moving threads into their correct spot, so forgive us if you see posts moving throughout the day (and for speling mistakes as well).

In the spirit of the new layout should I post my gripe in five different categories for attention?

Why not just report the posts like everyone else, instead of whinging about it here.

Because I'm not complaining about the cross-posting, I'm winging about the new for sale layout which encourages cross-posting. So it's feedback on the system, and it belongs here.

I agree with you, the new layout blows. Too crowded and too much to sort through.

Why don't we just collapse the whole site down into one big single forum.. then there'll be no chance of anyone cross posting.
The rationale of splitting up the Parts For Sale classifieds was that it was getting so many posts, as soon as you put up a new item it would be off the page within a few hours, secondly to make it easier for people actually looking to buy something, not simple peruse, thirdly to make the forum slightly faster and more efficient by having less posts in each category (ie get rid of huge database tables).
Yes, the downside is multiple forums, but the Trading Post splits up it's for sale stuff by categories, as does everyone else. Go complain to the Telegraph that their classifieds makes it harder for people to figure out what section to place an ad in, and see what response you get.
If people start posting in the wrong forum, simply report the post saying "wrong forum" and one of the mods will move it - simple.

Sam,
Any chance of installing a time limit of both parts and cars for sale and wanted - this would reduce the large database problems you spoke of earlier, and remove the newbies digging up a non relavent thread that is two years old? I'd propose threads over three months old in these sections be locked from future posts?

Yep, should have made it more clear: locked after three months of the last post, not first post.

Can we get the ForSale section renamed slightly.
Too many ppl are posting tech questions in there coz they think, "Wheels, Tyres, and Suspension" refers to tech questions about said topic.
Just needs a little "For Sale - " infront of it.
Just a thought.
Saves some moderation.

Karl has been hassling me for a while about the topic names for the for sale section. I figured it was about time.
Plus I was getting a bit annoyed at deleting threads all the time.

Not good.
I'd be surprised if there is more than 3 freeby threads started per week. It really doesn't justify it's own section.
