1g alternator wiring + wiring testing

Can anyone tell me where the three wires go from the back of the alternator on a 1g? There is a yellow one, a black one and a fat white one. There is also a really fat white one on the top white goes to the bat. It is internally regulated so i'm lost as to what the three could be for.
Also I've just finished sorting out the wiring (what a fricken huge job) and was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on testing everything to make sure it works (sensors and the diagnosis plugs) and some trouble shooting tips if they don't?

at a guess, the biggest wire is for charging battery and goes to the battery post.
one wire is definitely for the charge light (grounds when low voltage)
the last wire is most likely for a 'voltage sense" wire.. maybe goes to bat or ignition.. can out a small resistor in it to fool alt into charging with higher voltage .. not sure if this is recommended tho..

thanks sideshow. Exactly what I was after.
One more quick Q. Also in that PDF on page one. Top left hand corner there is the ignition switch (I assume it's just the ignition key connection). This bit confused me a little bit. In the diagram there is a black-white wire from the ECU that goes to the 7.5a starter fuse then back to the black wire (Starter STA) on the ECU, Now all I should have to do is join those two wires and run a wire from the start position on the key through a fuse to those two wires correct?
And I also would have to run a wire from the igntion positing on the key through a fuse to that black-red wire right?
The diag is a a little confusing in that area.

I just recently did all this, all the wire colours in the diagram were totally different colours to the loom I had. It was definatley the right loom. I ended up running alot of wires myself and pissing certain sections of the loom off, as I kept getting magical wires that went in and did not reappear anywhere else.... I used the pin numbers instead, and it all seems to be ok. But it's not a fun job, and I would happily pay someone the cash to sort it for me, if I were to do it all again.

hey you reckon someone could help me out with which wire goes to which pin on the back on the alternator... cause i got no loom at all for the alternator so dun have the plug and don't know which pin to run the above wires from
and also... the 'ignition' wire is that just 12V supply to the alternator when ignition is on
or does that give power to the ignition?
thanx
