the other day i left the ignition in my car on for about an hour. previous to this the car would start first time but now it doesnt seem to be getting a spark. it turns over but just doesnt fire up. taken the plugs out and they are getting fuel so its not that. I have also checked all the fuses and they do not seem to be blown. could the relays be blown or even the ecu?
any ideas before that auto elec comes back????

I know that if you have a distributor with points in it, that they will complety burn them selves to buggery if you leave your ignition on. If you have electronic ignition i don't think leaving the ignition on is a problem, except for a flat battery.

If its a points ignition its possible to cook the coil, just depends if the contacts are closed during the process. Is the engine still cranking over at a normal speed ? Or is it very slugish.... You can check its got spark by holding one of the plugs onto the block while cranking it , hold onto the lead not the plug.

as above - if it is a points type ignition then you may have burnt the coil out.

turns out it isnt points type ignition. i have taken the plugs out and tested them against the manifold and they are getting a spark. also after cranking for a little bit i take one of them out and it has fuel too.
what the hell is wrong if it wont even give me a backfire if it has fuel and a spark? i have used different battery aswell but doesnt seem to make any difference.
The cam oil seal was replaced before the ign was left on but may it have changed the timing slightly so i would need to adjust the dizzy somewhat?
Would it be that the ecu/resistor pack for the injectors is now not working?

sounds like it may to be too far retarded or advanced. Did you try the timing light? (don't forget to paint the mark with some liquid paper so that it can be easily seen)
