Hi there Mon, 04 October 2004 05:11 Go to next message
Hi there, just introducing myself, name's John and i couldn't figure where to put my first post anywhere else but here.
Anyways, as a p-plater (and a very stupid one) I was driving me girlfriend home, anyways, I'm pretty much a driver that's trying to learn how to do tricky car stuff, so whenever i get the oppurtinity to battle on with a corner, I do. So I approach a easy left corner about 70km/h (this is about 12 at night btw) and i heel/toe to about 50, swerving to right and left just for the fun of it (to make it look like i'm actually dependant on weight shifting), you know, and clipping the corner and doing a textbook how-to-tackle-a-corner thingy majig. ANYWAYS, after the turn, out of no where a big fat white car pulls behind me, and he literally has his nose right up my ass! (well not literally literally, but you know what i mean lol)
so I figured, okay, he's going to over take me, so let it be, because the road ahead is just a plain long strip where there are no lines on the road or nothing, so i figured he's going to do it, or he's a cop, so i'll just drive slow.
Then I checked my mirrors and it was a big massive white fairlane (tissue boxes IMO), so i figured it can't be a cop, so i decided to step on the gas abit to see if he's going to rack off. No he doesn't, his still tail gating me as if we were at bathurst in the 80's. He has had the oppurtunity to over take me but he decides not to? So I still drive normally and straight from us is another left turn (probably same radius corner as before) and approached the corner, i realise he's not behind me no more. So I figured, okay, that's cool, no more lights ramming up my ass. Then I hear this big roar in his crappy tissue box and he's right next to me (road ahead is one lane) and next thing you know he's in FRONT of me at the apex of corner, I was so scared of my life, my girlfriends and his life that I had to run in the gutter about 1-2 inches away from it to give him space. When he over took me, he was in the other lane, facing on coming traffic (but hey, there's no traffic at this area at this time) so he hooks his steering wheel back to my lane, hit's his brakes, broke his tail out, and smashes TWO parked cars. I braked in time to see it all happen in front of me.
I felt sorry for him because I thought he might of died so I ran out to see if he's okay. Turns out he's also a p-plater. His car is a write off, everythings everywhere on the floor, glass, windscreen, his fron tbumper is hanging and push in, left wheel and suspension tower is gone, everything's on the floor, coolant is just pouring, the least I did was pick up his paper mesh air filter and put it on his pyramid-like bonnet.
From then on, I've never really tried heel/toe'ing for a while till now.
Bloody p-platers.
