Ok just a quick question before i throw it out. Last of the RWD Tarago's , what gearbox did they normally have bolted up on the 3y and 4y engine? I know it's a 5 speed but after a bit more than that. Thanks guys.

Not sure of the specific number for these boxes, however they are the same front pattern as a W55/57/58. ie a W55, will bolt up to the "Y" bellhousing. The ratios would be a commercial vehicle setup. I hope this has shed a little light on the subject for you.

Thanks for that. Does it say anywhere on the gearbox whether its a W55/57/58. Would the gear ratios work on a standard car? Owell just seeing if their worth something. $10 and someone here can have it but i think the bearings are rooted and i used the angle grinder on the lay shaft so umm yea need another one of them.

Casing is quite different if they are like the rest of the Toyota van boxes I have looked at. Rear mount is bolted to the top of box, with no provision for the car type of mount and usually column or remote linkage change. Might be worth something as scrap metal maybe???? To see the box number look on the chassis plate, have vague recollections of them being a C box.

It's probably a G5x box, like the Hilux.
