GZE speed limiter Fri, 27 September 2002 07:23 Go to next message
Hey Guys,

Just need some quick information for a friend. He has removed the speed limiter from the wiring loom although now after the car is running at idle for approximately 10 secs, it cuts out.

Any ideas on how to avoid this form occurring?

Thx,

Russ.

I would have thought the speed limiter would have been written into the ECU, I didn't think you'd be able to remove it.
Just get him to double check what he actually removed is what he thinks it is.

Freak what type of car is it in? are you talking about the engine speed sensor the speedo sensor?
if the speedo sensor is cut or removed, the check engine light usually just flashes on and off.......it shouldnt make the engine stop......
on the aw-11 mr2 there is a glass bulb behind the speedo, that a magnet passes at the set speed, then the ecu cuts the ignition...real pain in the *ss.... you just bend the glass bulb out of the way, but not disconnect it.....i'm not sure if toyota used this setup in any other of it's cars speedo's.....but it only worked when i put the 4agze and it's ecu in, when i had the ge in it there was no speedo cut.....
