TA 22 Dash board

Hello People,
I am wanting to paint the part of the dash on a TA 22 celica that surrounds the guages, it is usually a fake woodgrain material (plastic or something), does any one know if it is difficult to dismantle this area of the dash, or is it as easy as removing some screws and such?
Thanx,
Nick (catch_22)

you'll have to get in behind the dash and unplug all the wiring to the guages/lights and unscrew the speedo cable, then undo the screws all around the sides of the instrument surround (woodgrain bit). after that it should just come out. not to hard, mabe take an hour for the first time...

Hi,
Doesn't that woodgrain stuff come off? I thought it was some contact-like stuff and when you pull it off it's black underneath.

im not sure about that, i rekon you'd be better off just taking the whole thing out and masking it up to paint rather than running the risk of messing up your dash. even if the woodgrain is a laminate, if you take it off you'll have to deal with the glue under it. ive had my dash out several times and its not a big hassle.
