4agte in sprinter having cooling problems?????? Tue, 05 October 2004 10:57 Go to next message
Hey people just want some feed back on this problem i am having with my sprinter, firstly it is a 4agze with a turbo and no supercharger, i have had a twin core radiator made for it and it had twin thermo fans that work well. i am using the water pump housing of the original motor because the hose fits on the front of the engine not the back.

The problem is that when the engine heats up, the temp gauge will go right up almost to the red and when i hit 4000rpm the gauge will come instantly back to the middle then slowly creep back up to the red until i hit 4000rpm again.

Whats going on and what are some things to look at??

please help me thanks

dale...

Is that drops at 4000rpm or with some roadspeed?

If 'tis roadspeed then check the thermostat...

it drops if you are siting still and reving it or if you are driving.

seems like the water pump is not pumping enough.

sounds like you got a hot spot, or air, one or the other.

Try opening the radiator while on a hill and turning on motor, let it run for a while too let air bubbles out, if there are any. you got a oil cooler on that motor
