AFTERMARKET RPM METER ON 1G-GTE SOARER Thu, 07 October 2004 06:05 Go to next message
GUYS can anyone tell me weter I can fit an aftermarket rpm meter on a 1g-gte engined soarer , will I be able to use the rpm connections (pins) on the ecu plugs to get a sinal for the rpm meter to work ,(ive seen from the apexi safc wiring thats there two pins in the ecu that has the rpm signal this is what i was intending to use if its possible) im wanting to install a few gauges in the soarer and wanted to see if can do a rpm meter gauge any info appreciated

forget the wank tell me how ,pleaseeeee i want to have some gauges on my dash and am running out of what to put oil pre , water temp , wanted 3 so tacho is the only one left other than oil temp have boost gauge on pillar alredy

Tachos usually have 4 wires.
Tacho input (that comes from ignitor/coil/ecu), ignition, earth, and lights.

Just wire it up.

oh btw its only one of those 2 inch ones ok , im not putting the fully sick 5 inch tacho on my dash

just for others who prob will flame me for

frankie -- just to see some needle action , sick of the digi dash now i loved my exa used to like seeing the tacho move around , now ive only got my boost meter so i though the tacho will be lively enuf to keep me happy

doesnt mater if it isnt perfectly accurate

ok im no brain when it comes to electronics , so if i use the rpm signal from the ecu pin, will that do like i can run a wire from there right

then where to get ign signal from ca i use stereo one

Stereo is accessories, not ignition.

Find out which wire goes to your factory tacho, and tap into that one.

Also, get a friend who knows what he is doing to help you.
