Assuming your RT104 currently was a W40 4-speed, it's a direct swap. Be aware there are at least 2 different shifter positions on the W50 though, so make sure you get the right one. Get your tape measure out!

If you stop and think about it for about a second, the answer is pretty obvious... but since I'm in a good mood, measure from the front edge of the bellhousing to the shifter.

AFAIK the 1-4 ratios are the same, but I'm not 100% certain.

IIRC, the W40 and W50 shifter positions are interchangable.

So you can use your old one in the new box.

mrdohc, my w50 is 635mm bellhousing to shifter. or 580mm to the front of the shifter plate.

Hi,

Can't you change the shifter position? You just need to take off the shifter plates (or whatever they're called) from your existing box to the new box (assuming they're in different positions).

Also I thought that the gear ratios can be different in the W50 gearbox, depending what type of car it came from.
