Does anyone have pics of late model ae101 gze pistons and rods. I've had my engine rebuilt, encountered some problems and had to pull the head off and the pistons no longer look like gze items. I just want to make sure I haven't been ripped off.

ZE pistons are pretty easy to spot, they are the only 4A-G pistons with a dish shape in them, and really small valve cutouts near the edges.

A side on shot of the top of the piston chopped in half would look sorta like this.

Thanks guys I've actually seen many GZE pistons from aw11 and ae92 but mine look different which is why I'm wondering if ae101 are different. Club4ag quote a different piston and rod for the ae101 but I need a pic to compare.

From my understanding, the rods & pistons in the AE92 & 101 should be the same, whereas the AW11 MR2 ones have different pistons for the lower (8:1) compression.
From memory, my AE92 4AGZE pistons (8.9:1 comp) do not have a dish , they are more like a flat top.
Cheers
Phil

Damo, did you ever get a picture of the AE101 4AGZE pistons.
I am looking into getting O/S pistons for my AE101 GZE rebuild, so would also like to see comparitive pics of the various 4AGZE pistons.
The AE101 pistons I have, are "roughly flat top", but have a slight dish, with the centre being about 55 thosands of an inch lower than the outside edge.
Phil, from waht I have read the AE101 rods are "lightened forged".
regards Chuck.

here's where it gets interesting....
i know that the part number for the AE92 smallport GZE crank is the same as the smallport 4age from the AE92....
i'd suggest that the crank is the same.
