Urgent - 7M-GE engine loom Sun, 29 September 2002 00:44 Go to next message
In discussions with an auto electrician, it was determined that we could use some of the original wiring of the 7M to wire up the ignition for the 1UZ. Naturally, the engine loom etc was still on my 7M, which was down at the workshop before they got rid of it. I had asked that they retain all the engine plugs etc. However, they threw the engine complete, including the loom, plugs etc Mad
So, instead of installing all new relays etc and having to mount them, I need the engine loom from a 7M-GE so that I can cannibilise the parts I need.

If anyone has one of these, or knows where I can get one, please drop me a line biased99@hotmail.com or 'phone me on 0402 898777

N.B. Must be from an MX83 with 7M-GE

Thanks in advance.

i have 2 looms from a mx83 and 2 loooms from an ma70. none of them are TOTALLY complete, but between em, they have all the plugs plus some. im not going to know what im keeping or chucking out of that pile untill at least 2 weeks. (probably chucking the ma70 stuff to be honest, but its all VERY similar with the exception of the ecu plugs).

what exactly do you need, and i can probably help you out.

and they CHUCKED that engine??... what a shit.

cheers

At this stage, I'll be happy if I can the plug/wiring that plugs into the ignition plug - the one where, if you jumper a wire directly from it the + terminal on the battery, the engine will crank.

If anyone has one of these, drop me a line...

I would have "lived by the rules of my sig" if the workshop had done the right thing... Sad

Still, if I can find a replacement, then there's no harm done...

If I can get hold of what I need this week, that'd be very helpful.

Thanks for the replies so far!

Guys, still need that loom...Preferably this week if possible.
Just as an update, I'd say the wiring is about 1/3rd done. If I can get the loom and hook it up, I should be able to crank the engine on the key.
All that then remains is a number of sensors, fans and plugging in the ECU. Oh, and re-fit (now lengthened) tail-shaft and LSD.
After that, there is engineering, then suspension, then rims/tyres...I feel tired, all of a sudden! Smile

Why dont you try Sixworks in Newcastle. They may be able to do you a deal.

I picked this thread up, but number the same. Try the email.
"Give Grant a call on (02) 4957 2076 or e-mail him at sixworks@mpx.com.au"
or
"Grant Blundell at sixworks@optusnet.com.au "
From what I know he's into wiring harnesses. Thats why I suggested him earlier.

Ed,

I believe it was an 89/90 7M-GTE import.

I have cut off a few plugs and some wires, not 100% sure off the top of my head.

The problem is the complete harness has been cut at the firewall, and reconnected with lots of joiners. I personally don't think its much good, just handy for spare plugs and wire, or as a guide to build another harness.

I don't actually know Grant Blundell(sixworks), but I believe he has made up some 7M harnesses in the past, probably GTE's. I assume you spoke and its pretty expensive?

I suppose you thought of the Cressida Option? From an Ozzie Wrecker? I'd be amazed if you couldn't find a GE at a wrecker somewhere. If you do an internet search on a mod called "Parts Locator" you can fill in a request on the Web and they contact wreckers automaticaly, who are registered with their service, and try to locate. There was actually a guy there who had the exact same name as mine (spooky!!).

Peter Watson (peter.watson@vss.com.au)has a complete 7M-GTE harness, although I tink he wants to sell engine complete with harness and computer.
