Given the issues with steering box clearance when doing this conversion, I'm guessing stock turbos, plus rack and pinion conversion in an ra28 is a no go?

I'd like to work it out now, as in Joels ra28, he uses a ta23 crossmember, which would be ideal also for a front sump 1g.

You shouldn't have any problems with the standard steering box and the 1G. Yes the turbo's do come close but it is easily workable.

If you want to convert to a rack then you will need a T series crossmember otherwise yout rack will be sitting inside your sump.

I am considering a rack conversion for mine. Both for driveability and the better sump arrangement.

Don't underestimate the amount of work involved in getting a rack conversion to work well though. Getting the engine in will be the easy bit.
