bog in a tube.....seam sealant?? Sat, 09 October 2004 09:37 Go to next message
hi,
have been sandin and sandblasting my car lately back to bare metal and i have noticed many of the seams/joins are sealed by a gluey silicon sorta stuff (silicon cant be painted). i wanna put some new sealant on the seams, but apparently there is a paintable silicon stuff called 'no more gaps' or sumthin. i dont want to use it bcos it promotes rust...waterbased. is there sealant that is like bog that wont promote rust??? bog is a little impractible for this job.

also windscreen sealant, i assume this is okay to use silicon on them, or is there special stuff for that too.

just go to your local (decent) parts shop and ask for some seam sealant... its not quite silicone and yes you can paint it... ive seen it used on a number of cars from restoring window rubbers to filling up rust holes in the engine bay!

you can get it in grey and black as well

good shit the old seam sealer

It is called drip check and is available from spray paint suppliers. You put it on after the primer - no need to primer over.

use windscreen selant.

It only goes a "skin" on the outside it remains flexiable on the inside great if the screen ever has to come out again
