3S GTE Air Flow Meter

Hey guys..
im having a little trouble with my MR2 3S-GTE choking when i rev it really hard off idle.. If i try to take it easy on the throttle, it revs to about 2000rmp then chokes again.. I have a suspicion this might be the air flow meter.. if so, can any other meters be used in place of my unit??

I Don't know yet, see how you go. Check your diagnostic codes.

diagnostic codes? how do i find them out.. and what do they mean??

That sounds more like a small spilt in the inlet pipe that goes between the front of the turbo to the afm, and when the motor "rocks" the split is being opened.
