My Diff's gonna Blow! Sun, 10 October 2004 14:35 Go to next message
Gaday boys, the stocky diff in my RA60 has finally shat its self since the 1g GTE has been in there 4 about 6 months now and I want to up grade. Was wondering on any suggestions any one would have as an upgrade for the RA60 and any good dif work shop in Melb ( by good I mean cheap ). Ive only got about $600-$700 at the moment so I dont really know what my options are. Want to go LSD but I dont know what the budget would be.

Cheers!

HAve those Ra60 got F series in them.

IF so go down the track of getting a True Trak limo from the states and running that. I'm very happy with one in my wagon

RA60 only has a T-series diff. I would be upgrading to either a Hilux (G-series) or Crown (can't remember which model MS112?) (F-series) diff. Both will hold the power, especially with a decent LSD.

All the crowns have F series diffs. MS112 onwards you get disc brakes.

there is a Corona F series around that doesn't need to be cut down to fit under a Ra28 I don't know what model it is though.

I converted my Crown from drum to disc with the MS112 diff and put in the true trak. It bloody fantastic.

G series would be overkill for that application... F series from MS112 or MX23 would be just about ideal. LSD centres are easy enough to acquire for an F series diff, but both of the above will come with open centres.

You could look into a volvo diff, hell strong, doesn't need shortening, volvo disc brakes, and should be cheap & fairly easy to get hold of, as all the diffs are the same from the 70s to the 90s (or something along those lines).

Here's a thread that has alot of info:
