Rims for RA23 Mon, 11 October 2004 02:14 Go to next message
HELP! I'm at a loss. I want to get rims for the old ra23, and I can't find anything that i like! I really want the FR17, but in sixteen inch form (FR16) but they don't seem to make them anymore..
help, what do I do?

Anyone got any ideas for rims?

Finding rims for an early celica sux. Performance, ROH & of course Simmons can make some of their rims in the stud pattern & offset to suite, but as you already know, they're not always the ones you really want. Get yourself a couple of catalogs & ring up each manufacturer to find out exactly which rims they can make to suite a celica, then go from there.
Once you've decided on a rim, shop around, prices vary hugely, & the manufacturer will be the most expensive.

I ended up going for Performance 16x7" Lotus rims, which I'm very happy with.

I know this has been covered before but no conclusions seem to come of it, I have front wheel drive offset rimms and was going to put those bolt on spacer hub extension thingies as they need 1 inch to sit nicely on the guards..so whats the go? are they going to effect the drivetrain components in a bad way?
sorry to hijack the thread

look at some jap importer businesses, coz a fair few newer nissans have the same stud pattern as ra28's (A31 cefiro, s12, S13, R31) you could get your hands on some nice 16" lightweight jap rims with a nice offset. mmm P1's or TE37's *drools*

don't spacers burn your bearings?

the bearings need to be aligned to the rims properly i thought.

aren't s13 the same stud pattern? what do those blokes do?

There's a place in peakhurst that make custom rims. The blokes interested in early celicas too.

There isn't really a problem with spacers provided they are ones that correctly bolt on and actually use the centre of the hub and not just the studs. Think of them as just a wheel with a lower offset.

Unfortunately, from a legal standpoint, they aren't so cool Sad

using spacers is not the same as using a rim with a different offset.. (from what i thought)

the balance of the weight will be way out.

riceburna73: no worries mate. that bloke did a good job of some rims for my mate's ke35
