Toms TA22 now with MORE pics

Thought it was a bout time i did a bit of an update. bought a new set of concept 5 style rims, and after putting them on discovered a bent rear left axle on the way from footy training. not knowing what it was, it was quite a scary experience having a rear wheel wobble and shake while making a terrible knocking sound at 60km/h. anyway i limped it home and spent a couple of weeks looking for an axle. eventualy found one at a wrecker, and for $100 and $20 for a new bearing my problem was fixed.
After running fine for a month or so after, the car developed a bit of a miss, and eventually got to the point of one morning not starting at all. so after looking at the electrics with my dad we found the immobiliser was incorrectly installed. after rewiring this properly the car would start, but still miss. so we changed the points, which were completely charred, and found our problem almost disappeared. however, it still misfires at odd times, it is not a predicatable thing. so today we are replacing the coil and spark plug leads in a hope to fix this problem.
Thats about it for now. Pics of car with new rims are further down the page.
Oh, and im now beginning to save my pennies so i can opefully buy a new engine for a conversion at the end of the year/this time next year. have been thinking 2t/3tg hybrid, 4AGE (maybe 20V or GZE) or 3tgteu. any suggestions are welcomed
Thanks guys

if u care to share wat u paid/payin for it plz post here so we can all see how good of a buy u got.
whats doing with the wheels/hub caps? they look huge.. low profile tyres ?? that might be causing the illusion

yeh low profile tyres on 15inch wheels make em look huge for some reason. probly the small lowering job i think it had. i paid 5k for the car, which is great if u consider that it was stripped and rebuilt to extremely high standards by previous owner, who i must mention is a great bloke. on the list of to do things tho is a 16inch wheels, prob B45 simmons, but damn they expensive, and then by the end of next year when i hopefully have some money, a turbo 4AGE.

So you're the year 11 kid from school who copied the car I brought
Here I was thinking that a TA22 would be a unique car and I find out that there are 2 TA22s and an RA23 in year 12 and a TA22 in year 11

Hi Fellas. Yep we LOVE our Classic Celicas in Canberra. Its so bloody cold here that they cant rust and just keep on keeping on!
If you want to see heaps more 22s etc. Come along to the next Canberra Celica Group (CCG) meet and meet the rest of the lads. We are a very friendly bunch so really enjoy meeting up with any Celicas (or any Yota for that matter!)
Check out the CCG site below (or call 0408994410)
Cheers
Mitch

thanks for the comments guys.
It seems as though ive fixed the miss that continually annoyed me. not sure if it was the coil or the plug leads, but replacing boths appears to have fixed it which is good. drive it heaps on the weekend and see if it is well and truly gone.

no it didnt happen. it could have been nice, but not for the amount of money we'd have to put in to fix the completely rooted body. all the panels had massive ripple, the guards had been cut with a hacksaw, and then it had been subjected to a complete respray in canary yellow, using a brush...
SO yeah, were still looking for something cheap which we can play with, at this stage some kind of rotor or maybe a 2l mk1 esky. but hey, ive got no money so its prob a while off. ill keep you posted

I think you should just put a 12a, 13b (20b ) in the celica....screw the 20v
Well...maybe by the time you find a car to do a rotary transplant in...I'll have a 12a RX-3 coupe and then we can go cruising OR leaving black marks all over the street

I think I know the car you are talking about.
Its an RA23 with an 18RG. The guy that ownes it came over to my house about an hour after I had moved my second (black) TA22 into the carport and offered to buy it from me.
BTW a 13b turbo in the hands of a 'P' plater...good idea
