V6 Headers...? Tue, 12 October 2004 09:40 Go to next message
Just wanted to know some opinions on custom headers for my 2VZFE V6. Ive got a full system including hi-flow cat, mandrel bend 2 1/4" piping spliting to 2 5" canon mufflers. The only thing left is the exhaust manifolds.

Is there any advantage in doing a header setup aswell?

What sort of sound difference would i expect?

Thanks.

there is a definate advantage.
the extractors will probably gain you as much as the rest of the system. closer to the engine is where you want to free it up.

as for sound difference...no idea.

yeah i agree, headers will definately free the rest of the system up and gain u a few more kw's.as for the sound.going from my mate's ford's,when they put extractors on it gave the car a different note.the car's also made a different and louder note between the mid range revs, around 2000-3500rpm u could really start to here this growl! Thankyou for the info. Im going down to the exhaust place today for some quotes. Think I might go ahead with it if it's not too much $$$.

FYI, custom extractors usually go for $200-$250 a cylinder.

You would be better to see if you can buy a set off the shelf.

Expect to loose some low end torque, but gain some upper end power.
My experience has quietened down the note after I got extractors.

Getting the extractors made up for $800, not including gaskets which are $70 for the pair. Thought that was a good price.

There are no off the shelf parts for my engine (2VZFE), so all has to be custom.

Should be done within 2 weeks. Plates are being made up now!
