Hey Guys,
Where is the best place to start upgrading/modifying the suspension in a AE86 Sprinter? Springs, Shocks, Swaybars Etc?

If you can't afford to do everything at once, I would do this.
1. Sway bars
2. Urathane bushes in all the right places
3. Shocks and springs at the same time, doing them seperately is often a step backwards in the handling arena
I'm sure there will be just as many opinions as there are options

I would add one other part to step 3 if you fit lowered springs. Make sure you get some roll centre adjusters (Whiteline have them). They help immensely after you have lowered the car.
Otherwise follows the steps Youngy listed.

Sprinter's addition is valid.
I urge not to lower rear axle tremendeously. Keep long trailing arms parallel to ground level. Period.
If rear must be lowered a lot - install brackets onto axle which relocate trailing arm fixing points. That will fix 'em to be parallel to ground. There are companies in Japan making these brackets for AE86.
With speed bumps and all, why not just stiffen the suspension and maintain factory original suspension height?
This way all suspension arm angles are correct, and car behaves ideally. It may look like a dog since it's sitting so high but who cares.

On the second day I bought my AE86 I took the oportunity to go down a 12km one way rally track.... Tight and windy I went around twice heheh
The handling of the sprinter might have a little bit to be desired on bitchumen but on dirt they are fantastic stock Can wait till I do some mods to see how she goes!!!

I'd say its probably the same reason the TA63's were all coupe's, because the chassis was stiffer.

If money is no object here's my sus set up:
Strut tops
Short stroke coilovers
RCA's as tall as the car is lowered
Tokico HTS dampers front and rear
24mm adj sway bar front. -learn from TRD (20 and 22mm only)
18mm rear
250lb front, 200rear springs
front and rear strut brace (both tri-angulated)
All new bush's.
a little camber for the rear as well (read Bill's site )
You may also want some longer control arms, but not longer than steering arms can go.
that's about is.
Change from 3K......yeah right, if that covers it
Jaz
And the AE86 coupe has alot more structure to it over the rear wheels. Definantly stiffer.

according to some discussions in another forum .. [i think it was club4ag], not only are the coupe's stiffer, but also lighter! something like the glass window on the back of hatches make hatches heavier!
